First Aid: What to do if you suddenly give birth to a baby at home?

What should some mothers do if they put the fetus on a plate in advance and rush to the hospital to give birth before the due date has arrived?

(1) The mother should stay calm as much as possible, and family members should see a doctor or midwife as soon as possible.

(2) The mother should breathe by exhaling to prevent the fetus from being delivered.

(3) During the preparation and delivery process, family members should comfort the mother and make her confident.

(4) If time permits, clean the perineum with dish soap or soapy water, and the midwife\’s hands should also be disinfected.

(5) Place a clean towel and folded clothes or pillows under the mother\’s buttocks, and raise the mother\’s buttocks to facilitate the delivery of the baby\’s shoulders.

(6) Use newspapers, towels and other debris to keep the delivery floor clean.

(7) After the fetal head is born, tell the mother to exhale (without exerting force) and press back if necessary to prevent the fetal head from being born too quickly.

(8) After the fetal head is delivered, gently squeeze upward from the neck and chin, and gently squeeze downward from the nose to squeeze out the mucus and amniotic fluid in the fetal mouth.

(9) Then hold the fetal head with both hands and gently press down, while allowing the mother to force the baby\’s shoulders to deliver the baby smoothly. Then carefully lift the fetal head and send the lower part of the arm out. After that, other parts of the fetus can slide out naturally.

(10) Wrap the baby in clean clothes.

(11) Do not attempt to deliver the placenta by pulling on the umbilical cord. If the placenta is delivered before the doctor arrives, wrap it in a towel and place it above the baby\’s level. Do not cut the umbilical cord.

(12) Before the doctor arrives, keep the mother and baby warm.
