What should I do if I suddenly have a baby without any preparation?

If a pregnant woman suddenly goes into labor, what should she do to ensure the safety of mother and baby? What if there are no doctors and midwives on site? Please read first aid measures.

first aid:

1. Let the mother lie flat on a clean bedding and do shallow chest breathing to relieve labor pain.

2. When the fetus\’s head and shoulders are exposed, gently support it with both hands and let it be delivered slowly.

3. The fetus must cry when it lands. If it doesn\’t cry, it\’s probably because there is amniotic fluid in its mouth and it should be sucked out.

4. When the umbilical cord is not pulsating, tie it with sterilized thread a few centimeters away from the baby\’s abdomen. It is best to wait for the doctor to cut the umbilical cord. If the doctor cannot come, the umbilical cord can be cut with a razor or scissors disinfected with alcohol or fire.

5. If the baby is not breathing, give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Precautions

1. Sudden deliveries should be performed aseptically. To prevent your newborn from getting tetanus, you still need to see your doctor right away for an injection of tetanus antitoxin.

2. When tying the umbilical cord, put the sterilized thread on the root of the umbilical cord near the baby\’s belly button, first make a circle and tie it tightly, tie two dead buckles, and then make a circle and tie it. Tie it up with another thread an inch away from the first ligation thread, close to the mother\’s body, and fasten it with a tight buckle. Cut the umbilical cord between the two ligation lines and wrap the broken end of the umbilical cord with sterile cloth.
