Expectant mothers should not miss these important examinations during the epidemic

At present, the domestic novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic situation has improved significantly, but the global situation is not optimistic. Imported cases appear from time to time, so some more cautious expectant mothers are still hesitant about whether to go to the hospital for prenatal check-ups.

Chen Baoyan, deputy chief physician of the Obstetrics Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, reminded that these important examination items should not be missed.

1. If you have just become pregnant during this special period, and it has been more than 42-45 days after menopause starting from the first day of the last menstrual period, go to the hospital for a B-ultrasound to determine whether there is an intrauterine pregnancy, and if necessary, do three pregnancy tests, thyroid function, Five eugenics and other examinations to understand the embryonic development in early pregnancy and the health status of the expectant mother. If symptoms such as vaginal bleeding, lower abdominal pain, and anal swelling occur, please seek medical advice at any time.

2. Early pregnancy NT examination: This is a prenatal screening project in the first trimester to check for the possibility of fetal malformations or chromosomal abnormalities. The examination time is from 11 weeks to 13 weeks + 6 days.

3. Prenatal screening: commonly known as Down syndrome screening, the examination time is 15-20 weeks. Starting at 15 weeks and no later than 20 weeks.

4. Mid-trimester ultrasound malformation screening: commonly known as \”major malformation screening\”, it systematically checks whether the fetus has structural abnormalities. Inspection time: 22 weeks to 27 weeks.

5. Gestational diabetes screening: Glucose tolerance screening. Inspection time: 24 weeks-28 weeks.

6. Examination at 30-32 weeks in the third trimester: Obstetric B-ultrasound to understand the growth and development of the fetus in the womb and detect abnormal fetal position in time to avoid missing the best opportunity for correction. During this period, the expectant mother’s routine hematuria, bile acid, serum iron and other examination items also need to be checked to detect abnormalities in time.

7. Full-term obstetric ultrasound examination: Mothers at 37-38 weeks of pregnancy should complete an obstetric ultrasound examination to evaluate the intrauterine condition of the fetus, discuss the mode of delivery and the time of the next obstetric follow-up visit.

8. Late pregnancy: Expectant mothers should undergo fetal monitoring (NST) once a week after 37 weeks. If the expectant mother has no comorbidities or complications in the previous examination, she can appropriately reduce the number of visits to the hospital for examinations under the guidance of her obstetrician, but she should strengthen self-monitoring. If conditions permit, she can monitor body temperature, weight, blood pressure, fetal movement and remote fetal monitoring at home. Monitor your heart and go to the hospital immediately if there is any abnormality.
