Efficient time management for first-grade children after school

The first grade is the first year for children to enter school. All aspects are adapting and adjusting. If parents can help their children get a good start at this time, it will directly affect future learning. So what should first graders plan after school? Let me share my family’s experience for everyone’s reference. There are few classes in the first grade. If you don’t join the daycare class, school ends at 3:30, and you still have about 5 hours before going to bed. If you don’t plan well, the gap with others will widen as time goes by. It is recommended that first-year primary school students should not participate in day care classes if they have the conditions. I don’t know how other places arrange it. Here, the teacher watches the self-study and says it’s homework. In fact, the children can do whatever they want, as long as they sit quietly in their seats and don’t disturb others. The first grade is the most important time to develop habits. Children may not take the initiative to study when they come to school, and a lot of time is wasted. Secondly, even when children do homework, they have some bad study habits, such as sitting in incorrect postures and writing. Play and wait, even if the adults are not around, there is no way to remind them in time. But in senior grades, children can participate after developing good habits. My eldest son completed most of his homework in the third grade using tutoring time, and he could ask the teacher if he had any questions. Therefore, in the first grade, we decisively decided not to participate in academic tutoring. After the children come home, they play wildly outside first, release their natural instincts, and practice skipping rope by the way. Basically, they go home around 5 o\’clock to drink water and rest. The outdoor time should not be too short or too long. If it is too short, the children will feel like they will go back before they have played much. If it is too long, the children will be too tired, which is not conducive to subsequent learning. After the break it’s dinner time, and we’ll talk about interesting things that happened at school. After dinner it’s official time for homework. The school does not leave written homework for grades one and two, so parents need to supplement it. What we arrange is a synchronized exercise book with both language and mathematics + oral arithmetic + calligraphy practice + listening and reading English. Synchronous practice can test children\’s learning status, and also allows children to see more question types and understand what is going on. At the beginning, we chose the middle point of the dictionary. Firstly, it was not too difficult. Secondly, there were fewer questions and it was more friendly to first-grade children. Later, I saw that my son was more interested in mathematics and wanted to try to train his thinking, so he switched to a slightly more difficult experimental class. Unexpectedly, he found it quite easy and could finish each side of the subject in a few minutes. Everyone can choose the appropriate teaching aid based on the actual situation of their child. Oral arithmetic is the foundation. It needs to be practiced every day over time. The more you practice, the more familiar you will become. Just 5 minutes a day. After that, it was time to practice calligraphy of 30 words a day. Although Erbao was only in the first grade, he had prepared for writing in the first class, so he could easily finish the 30 words a day. If your child is just starting to practice, you can write less. The last step is to listen to and read the text in English + memorize the words. First follow the audio and read the text. If you can read it fluently, you will get a sense of accomplishment. In fact, I don’t recommend that children memorize words right from the beginning, as it will be boring. But Erbao is very interested in words and always asks me how to memorize them, so I teach him to use natural spelling and phonetic memory. Sometimes he even learns them by himself. He can innovate his memory. For example, when remembering the word happy, he would say, h and a are placed with two p\’s, and y is stun after it…allAfter the part is completed, I will take him to look through the textbook again and read the content of the next day. After packing their schoolbags, the remaining time is left to the children to freely arrange, draw, play chess, play with toys, etc. We start parent-child reading at 8 o\’clock, usually reading some short fairy tales or idiom stories. Finally, I went to bed on time at 8:30. First grade students no longer have naps and need to go to bed early at night. Finally, here is our rough daily schedule for your reference. If it is completed quickly, the free activity time will be extended; otherwise, the free activity time will be compressed. 4:00-5:00 Outdoor exercise 5:00-6:00 Rest + dinner 6:00-6:30 Simultaneous language and number practice + oral arithmetic 6:30-7:00 calligraphy practice + listening and reading English 7:00-8:00 Free activities 8:00 parent-child Read and go to bed at 8:30
