Looking back at the third grade, five potential issues deserve attention

My daughter has entered fourth grade and there has been no major decline so far. Today I would like to share with you some issues to pay attention to when entering third grade. I hope it will give you some reference. 1. Change It is said that third grade is a hurdle. I think it is not so much a hurdle as it is a change. Children seem to have grown up suddenly when they enter third grade. Both self-care ability and learning ability have been significantly improved. In terms of daily life, there is no need to wake up in the morning. The child sets the alarm clock by himself every day, then gets up, washes and does morning reading. You can also put away your own things and set up a safe to store your cherished things. In terms of learning, the biggest change is that I know how to learn. They all have their own plans for what to study, how to study, and when to study, so parents don’t need to interfere too much. You only need to occasionally flip through the exercise book to understand the learning situation, or explain difficult problems to him. 2. These potential problems deserve attention. We hope that the following potential problems can attract the attention of parents and help their children successfully pass the third grade. 1. English cannot be ignored. In some places, there is no English class for first and second grade students. Some parents do not pay attention to it. After the textbook revision this year, they complained that it was too difficult. This actually sounded a wake-up call for us. It cannot be left alone. Even though we have English classes in the first grade, there are still children in the class who can\’t keep up. In the first and second grades, the teacher doesn\’t require spelling of words. When you enter the third grade, you are suddenly asked to master hundreds of words, and some children collapse. . English only has one or two periods a week, and it seems to have the same status as minor subjects such as art and music, but don’t forget, it is a high school entrance examination subject! Do we expect our children to memorize words under the pressure of many subjects after entering middle school? Forward-looking parents have already started planning from an early age. 2. Reading comprehension requires special training. Reading more does not necessarily mean strong reading comprehension. My daughter has loved reading since she was a child, and I was very proud of it. However, I found that points were deducted every time she read, especially for summary questions, which were not to the point. For example, what characteristics can be seen from a certain sentence or a certain word? Or what is the purpose of writing like this? What feelings does the author express? In fact, these questions have routines, but they need to be summarized by doing the questions. After discovering the child\’s problem, I bought him 100 Chinese reading training articles for primary school and conducted special training for him. I prefer its answers. It not only gives answers, but also gives test points, methods and ideas, so that children can know why the answer is this. Through practice, I have improved now, but I am not yet at my best. If many learning methods are not cultivated from the beginning, it will be very difficult to detect and fill in the gaps later. 3. It is normal to have fluctuations in learning. The knowledge in the lower grades is simple and you can get high scores easily. This gives parents the illusion that their children are learning well. When you enter third grade, knowledge becomes more difficult and examination methods become more flexible. Memorizing by rote is no longer enough. Some children will not adapt and their grades will fluctuate. Some parents or children cannot accept it. In fact, this is normal. Just like in our third grade, our Chinese scores plummeted due to reading comprehension. At this time, parents need to help, whether in terms of learning methods or psychologically, to give their children correct guidance. 4. Grasping the basics is the most important thing. If you want to learn well, the basics must not be lost. What is the basis? Words, calculations, concepts, formulas, word phrases, ancient poems, classical Chinese, etc. These basic knowledge cannot be digested in just 40 minutes in class. It requires a lot of time and energy to understand and remember after class. Some parents buy a bunch of exercise books and reference books, but they don\’t even look through their children\’s textbooks. Isn\’t this because they care about one thing and lose the other? Reading textbooks frequently is more effective than watching online classes and answering questions. 5. Stop taking interest classes if you need to. Interest classes are the icing on the cake. Students whose school grades are not satisfactory should not waste time on them. In the end, you have to work hard to get into higher education. Unless your child is talented in a certain area or particularly likes it, it is best to keep one or two interest classes at most. The third grade is like a hurdle. Those students who have established good study habits and can study independently can overcome it smoothly. On the contrary, those students who have not accumulated enough knowledge and have a weak foundation will be blocked. At this time, we need to pay more attention to the growth of our children, promptly discover and solve their various problems, and help them successfully pass this critical period.
