Summer is here, senior teachers remind you to pay attention to these 3 things about your children

I am a Chinese teacher who has been working on the front line of education for more than 20 years. After so many years of teaching, whenever there is a child in the class who does not do well in Chinese, parents will come to me anxiously. Ask me what to do. To improve your Chinese scores, you need to improve your composition skills. The improvement of composition level is a long accumulation and development process. Holidays are the best time for junior high school students and primary school students to supplement this knowledge. Once these times are missed, children will probably have insufficient Chinese learning potential after high school. Why do you say that? My colleague\’s child has read more than 800 books from ancient and modern times, both at home and abroad, in nine years of elementary school, junior high school, and middle school. After being admitted to the elite science class of a key high school in the city, her Chinese composition score was always the highest in her grade. Of course, her total Chinese score was better than that of the science-majoring boys in the class, so her overall score was always among the elite. Top of the class. She herself concluded that writing argumentative essays requires a lot of accumulation of literary works. She accumulated a lot in junior high school, but many male classmates in the class had little reading in junior high school and struggled to write in high school. So they spent a lot of time cramming in reading, and she spent more time In science, it is natural for her subjects to be well balanced and her grades to be ahead. So, how can parents improve their children\’s composition skills during the holidays? 1. Read extensively and develop literacy. When children reach the junior high school stage, their intelligence and emotions are in a period of rapid development. However, their experience, understanding, and especially writing lag behind their intellectual development. So, what can be used to compensate for this lag? By reading. Books by sages and sages from ancient and modern times, both at home and abroad, will give children knowledge and wisdom that cannot be found in textbooks. With the deepening of reading, the wisdom and beautiful emotions of books will nourish children and enhance their understanding of words. This strengthening of understanding not only benefits the Chinese language itself, but is also very helpful for children\’s understanding of other subjects. of. Once a child develops the habit of reading, his or her vision will broaden and his mind will open up. When writing, he will be able to quote from other sources and think about problems from a unique perspective. Some parents may say to me anxiously: Teacher, my child just doesn’t like reading, what should I do? This situation happens to every class of students I teach. Once parents realize the importance of reading, but their children don’t like reading, they will go crazy. For children who don’t like reading, my solution is to stimulate interest. For boys, we must start with their favorite books to teach them to read. If parents first let their boys read classics like \”Dream of Red Mansions\”, nine out of ten boys will resist. However, if you ask them to start by watching \”Sherlock Holmes\”, \”The Ming Dynasty\” and \”The Romance of the Three Kingdoms\”, nine out of ten boys will be unable to resist. There was a boy in my class who was one year younger than his classmates when he first entered school. He had a childish mind and didn\’t like to read. Writing essays was simply difficult for him. His mother was very anxious and asked me what should I do? I suggested that his mother buy him a copy of Harry Potter. Unexpectedly, after the child read one book, she asked her mother to buy the entire set of \”Harry Potter\”. From then on, I could no longer see him wandering around the classroom doing nothing during class every day.I saw him taking advantage of every opportunity to read extracurricular books. He read the entire set of books at a rate of one in three days, and then pestered his mother to buy books. I suggested that his mother buy him a collection of Agatha Christie\’s detective stories because this kind of book is suitable for boys. The psychological characteristic of being curious. After a period of excitement, the child tasted the sweetness of reading. Every weekend, he would go to the bookstore to buy his favorite books. After a lot of reading, his sense of language gradually developed, and he became much more relaxed when writing essays. For boys of different ages, we must learn to \”seduce\” them with interesting books. For example, for boys in primary school, we use books such as \”Shuke and Beta\” by Zheng Yuanjie to attract them. Girls prefer texts with light plots and fresh styles. We can recommend them to read various books in primary school. Fairy tales and books by Cao Wenxuan. For junior high school students, it is recommended to read books by Ding Limei, Lin Huiyin, and Bai Luomei. The articles written by these talented women have beautiful and delicate language, which is in line with the sensitive and delicate emotional characteristics of girls. After children have a certain interest in reading and reading ability, we recommend them to read books such as \”The Shawshank Redemption\”, \”The Little Prince\” and \”The Little Prince\”. The contents of these books are easy to understand and the plots are engaging. Boys and girls Children like it very much. Once children develop the habit of reading, they will find books to read by themselves, and classmates will also recommend books to each other. As age increases, parents and teachers can also intervene appropriately and recommend books with more connotation and quality to their children. For example, thoughtful and literary books such as \”The Temple of Earth and Me\” by Shi Tiesheng, \”The Ordinary World\” by Lu Yao, \”War and Peace\” and \”Resurrection\” by Tolstoy are given to children. However, the recommendation of these books must be step-by-step, and should be recommended after they have developed an interest in reading. Bacon said: \”Reading history makes people wise, reading poetry makes people wise.\” For the sustainable development of children\’s composition level, let children read, \”Ask the canal how clear it is, so that there is a source of living water.\” Reading, It is the \”source of living water\” for improving children\’s composition level. 2. Learn to accumulate, integrate and develop the habit of reading. If you do not accumulate, the nutrients in the books will be lost, and the children will eventually become bookworms who can only chew books. So how can we convert the energy gained from reading into improving our writing skills? Here is the second step I want to talk about: accumulation. When children develop the habit of reading, teachers and parents should encourage children to make excerpts. The excerpts I am talking about are very particular and demanding. Make an excerpt once a week. The excerpt is divided into four parts: excerpt good words: mainly idioms, and copy the explanation of the idiom when excerpting. This is to lay the foundation for multiple-choice questions on idioms; excerpt 10 beautiful sentences: used to embellish the article when writing. ; Extract a beautiful article: and make annotations next to the beautiful article – there are also requirements for annotations: appreciating at least five well-written sentences in the article; writing a self-written topic: at least 500 words, writing after reading is to train children\’s thinking and writing abilities. After a period of excerpting, the children happily discovered that they no longer feel empty in their stomachs when writing essays, and no longer worry about not being able to find materials. Moreover, we will be pleasantly surprised to find that,Children\’s comprehensive language skills have also been improved. 3. Strengthen calligraphy practice and pack test papers. As a first-line Chinese teacher, I want to tell parents how important writing is to Chinese, whether it is from primary school to junior high school, high school entrance examination, or college entrance examination. For teachers who correct papers, writing is the first impression that candidates make on their teachers. There are a lot of candidates for the high school entrance examination every year, and the amount of paper correction is very large. The teacher who corrects the paper usually determines the starting point of the essay based on your writing. The so-called starting score means that before the paper is revised, there is usually an approximate average score. For example, if the essay is 50 points for the high school entrance examination, if the city\’s starting score is 40 points, the teacher will first assign you according to your paper. Category, then score. What does classification mean? The essays are scored according to the outline requirements and divided into categories one, two, three, four and five. If your writing is beautiful and your teacher has a good first impression, he can first place you in Category 2 essays, which will generally have an average score not lower than 40 points, and then fluctuate around 40 points based on your content. If your handwriting is poor, no matter how good your content is, the teacher will first classify you as a Category 3 essay, which means you will score below 40 points. Therefore, whether the writing is beautiful is crucial to the score of the essay. If your handwriting is clean and beautiful, your other subjects will also be well affected. Experienced teachers have estimated that if your handwriting is beautiful, your overall score can be improved by about 15 points. In primary school, we must find ways to let our children practice good calligraphy. Good calligraphy can help them achieve good results in various subjects. Some parents will say that when their children were in elementary school, their handwriting seemed to be fixed. In junior high school, they had a lot of homework and no time to practice calligraphy. Moreover, the effect did not seem to be good after practicing. What should I do? My suggestion is: use the relatively concentrated time in winter and summer vacations to practice calligraphy to achieve results. And if you want to get results quickly, you must find a class that can quickly learn hard-tipped calligraphy. In this kind of class, a week is usually spent to strengthen children\’s writing skills, and most children can quickly master it. Then, based on the learned calligraphy skills, they practice for two hours every day. In this way, after one month, the child\’s handwriting will be greatly improved. There is a boy in my class who always writes good compositions, but his handwriting is not beautiful, so his scores are always low every time, and he is always very frustrated. During the winter vacation of the first year of junior high school, I suggested that he practice calligraphy. After a vacation, his writing made a qualitative leap, and he also tasted the sweetness of hard work: in several major exams, his composition scores jumped to the top ten in the class. The above three methods, if parents and children can persevere, will definitely be effective. There is a boy in my class. When I first took over, his Chinese score was about 10 points different from the class average. Under my training with these three methods, he has made great progress in just one year. In the two major exams this semester, he scored 117 in one exam and a full score (120 points) in the other exam. If parents can urge your children to adhere to the above three points, your children\’s composition level and Chinese language performance will give you a big surprise in the future.
