The learning methods of primary school top achievers

I would like to share the reading experiences of top academics (my cousin who studied at Fudan University and a friend who studied at Tsinghua University) that I have known closely (of course, the sample size is small and not enough to prove it, but I am just sharing some of my observations and thoughts with you). 1. Reading When I was a child, I often went to my cousin\’s house (Fudan University). The most conspicuous furniture in their house were two large bookshelves, including various \”miscellaneous books\”, such as \”Shang Xia Wu Qian\”, which was called my historical enlightenment book. Years\”, \”Five Thousand Years of the World\”, my animal enlightenment \”Feathered General\”, etc.; from language-based (stories and fairy tales, etc.) to various natural sciences and humanities popular science. Although it was not a large quantity due to the material conditions at that time, it was at least very abundant. And my friend (undergraduate from Tsinghua University, master\’s degree from Zhejiang University) is said to have read a lot when he was a child. In comparison, when I was in primary and secondary school, my extracurricular books mainly consisted of teaching aids, stories, fairy tales, compositions, etc. There were very few real extracurricular books. I remember the first \”extracurricular classic reading\” in the sense of \”Tess\” and \”La Traviata\” I read in the third grade of junior high school… Later, my brother won the top prize in their local liberal arts. I was admitted to Fudan University in name only, but I only went to a very ordinary school. When I grow up, especially after I read some educational books, I think more and more about reading: 1. Opening books is beneficial – reading widely, so I especially like to buy encyclopedias for my daughter. In addition to the common things like space, animals, etc. at home, Plants, art, natural history encyclopedias, etc., as well as less popular military, engineering, firearms, furniture, economics, political encyclopedias, etc. Of course, reading these encyclopedias when my daughter is very young requires parent-child reading, and I also satisfied my curiosity while reading these with my daughter. Sometimes I don’t know whether I am reading with her or she is reading with me. I plan to accompany her to read through all these encyclopedias before graduating from elementary school. The 199-yuan mother of a beautiful Peking University academic: How to cultivate students\’ learning ability. I found that reading encyclopedia with your child has another good advantage. When you go to the park, you always have something to say, and you have more information and content to inspire her. For example, we have read about meteorology and minerals, and when visiting the park, we may casually talk about clouds, geography, etc. The greater your parent’s knowledge base, the more meaningful communication you can have with your child, and the more likely it is that your child’s hidden interest seeds will be stimulated. At the same time, the more widely you read, the more concepts you may store in your mind, and the stronger your understanding of new things in the future will be because there is more background information. 2. In-depth reading – theme reading and intensive reading of classics are also essential, and extensive reading and intensive reading are combined. Those classics, or a certain aspect that the child is interested in, can be read thematically or read intensively again and again. My daughter likes clothing. Ever since I bought her \”A Brief History of Fashion\”, she seems to be very interested in clothing, so I specially bought her \”A Brief History of Color\”, \”A History of Chinese and Foreign Clothing\” and so on. I thought this might be her interest, and I had to satisfy her and provide resources that she was interested in. There are also some classics that require intensive reading. As my daughter’s literacy increases, she has started to read them one after another. But I think this may require more interest and cannot be forced. Did I buy her \”The Art of War\”, \”Historical Records\”, etc., she didn’t seem to be very interested in it, but she couldn’t put it down to “Sherlock Holmes”, “Fathers and Sons”, etc. and read them over and over again. By the way, starting from this year, I also specifically asked her to write reading notes after every book she reads. There is no limit to the number of words, but she must have her own thoughts and opinions. Of course, to set an example, I also carefully write down my reading notes. 3. Persist in reading early – read aloud. Since kindergarten, I have been reading with my daughter for about 10 minutes in the morning. In order to read early, I will deliberately get up early (because I have to run and groom myself). The content of early reading is usually Tang poetry and English. I plan to learn three hundred Tang poems by the time I graduate from elementary school. English is mainly about reading picture books aloud. I have been persisting for several years and have learned many Tang poems. I have also learned a lot while reading with them. I really don’t know if she taught me or I taught her. 2. Learning We often compare learning to a marathon. In my opinion, persisting in the learning marathon as long as possible is related to the following: 1. The performance of the vehicle itself – good physical and mental quality 1) Persistence in physical exercise I insist that my daughter has a sports hobby. This is not only because of sports Strengthening the body is more about tempering the will. Children who insist on physical exercise are active, sunny and have endurance. Each sport also has its own specific sportsmanship, such as cooperation in football; such as hard work in competitive sports. My daughter learns fencing, and I want to train her to be able to advance and retreat in a moderate manner and to have a positive spirit in facing difficulties head-on. 2) Having one or two favorite hobbies in an interest class can not only help children spend their leisure time and lead a quality spiritual life, but also provide them with an opportunity to make friends and express themselves in the future. Having said that, regarding interest classes, my opinion is that although children\’s interests must be respected, interests can also be cultivated. Whether parents can persist is also very important for cultivating children\’s interests. 2. Is the engine powerful – stimulating learning motivation? Only when you are clear about what you want to do can you be self-motivated and learn independently. At the primary school level, I think we can often inspire children to think about what they want to do in the future, what kind of life they will live, and tell them stories about great people and so on. Don’t overdo it and destroy your child’s enthusiasm for learning. 3. Understand driving skills – teach learning strategies Marathon is a bumpy road, we need to teach children driving methods to help them drive safely and as smoothly as possible. I have also written a lot about learning strategies, mainly including cognitive strategies, resource management strategies, metacognitive strategies, etc. In daily life, I will teach my children how to listen to classes, preview, review, read, etc. 4. Know how to make extensive use of learning resources outside school. This is actually part of the learning strategy. However, I found that many parents limit learning too much to reading, writing and answering questions, so I talk about it separately. Schooling is only part of learning. Be good at taking your children to study in museums, libraries, concert halls, science and technology museums and other places. In my opinion, museums, art galleries, etc. are all for soaking in. Go there as often as you have time. CCTV recommends over 500 high-scoring excellent documentaries. Children will become addicted to self-discipline after watching it. 3. Summary: Primary school education is the key point. Primary school test scores are really not as important as I thought. According to Erikson\’s theory of psychosocial development stages, the main psychological conflict in primary school is inferiority versus diligence. so IHe believes that the most important thing in primary school is to make children love learning and school, have one or two good friends in school, maintain one or two hobbies, read extensively, and persist in physical exercise. If learning is a long-distance run: then a car with a good engine will undoubtedly run further – it is necessary to stimulate children\’s learning motivation and make them willing to run. A car with good overall performance will undoubtedly run more steadily – it is necessary to teach children to learn Strategy (method) to make him run methodically. I wish you progress.
