Don’t let your children attend interest classes? A mother’s reflections and strategies

My child is about to turn 5, and I haven’t signed up for any classes except football class. One is that I don’t feel anxious because my child is still young. . . Second, it is too troublesome to choose interest classes and I don’t know what to study. But when I looked at the various talent shows in the kindergarten and my baby was always one of the favorites, I felt that something was not right. . . Why take interest classes? What I am panicking about is not that I am afraid that my child will lose at the starting line or something like that. Instead, he discovered that every student in the class had a talent show that they could excel in, and he had nothing but telling jokes, and now…how embarrassingly \”different\”! I wish he was like most people, instead of being \”different\” all the time. Even if 50% of the children simply play the piano; the other 50% simply sing and dance. Of course, your child won\’t. Standing in the crowd, it won\’t be a pain that can be explained by \”being different\”. Football, basketball, and table tennis are just extracurricular activities. However, your child has always been a substitute and does not understand court terms. Standing on the court, it is not a pain that can be explained by \”being different\”. Fencing, ice hockey, horse riding, golf, chess, etc. have become popular. However, your children are shocked when they see it, watching their friends exercise professionally on the field. As a \”melon-eating\” audience, the child stands on the field. , then there is no pain that can be explained by \”being different\”. It is too unrealistic to not require all of the above, but at least the child must not be \”different\” in at least one of these three situations. However, I don\’t want to be too blind. My previous habit was to go to trial classes in one interest class after another! It\’s terrible. Sales\’ endless chatter can drive you crazy. A friend said that the teachers in the first trial class are all famous teachers. Whether you get the same teacher in the official class depends on luck. The most frightening thing is that the child can’t figure out the reason at all even during a class! I really don’t know what class to sign him up for? Ask him, he likes them all! Totally blinding… Recently, there is a talent self-assessment program from Yale University that has become very popular. It is said that many mothers are choosing interest classes based on it. Suddenly I felt like I saw a glimmer of light coming in! Dr. Robert Sternberg from Yale University in the United States studied a \”multifaceted\” test that lists 20 normal performances of children in daily life. From these small behaviors, the child\’s talent can be discovered. The 20 behaviors are as follows: If a child performs well in items 1, 8, and 17, it means that he may have good language talent. For children with language skills, parents should often ask him to describe some objects, an event, a natural phenomenon, etc., and often provide him with books in this field. If a child performs well in items 6, 12, and 18, it means he may have good musical talent. This type of child pays special attention to listening to regular sounds when he is very young (2 or 3 years old). As long as there is music, he will listen with his eyes wide open and concentrate. No child of 20 years old can compare. This shows that he has great potential in music. If the child performs outstandingly in items 3, 7, and 15,It means that he may be talented in mathematics and logic. He likes to play checkers and chess, and can quickly understand some equivalence relationships. If you give him some toys that are completely confusing, he will sort them into categories. For this kind of child, his math performance may not be ideal after school (this may be due to his inability to adapt to the language of the course, or his attention is too easily distracted), but his potential in this area should not be doubted. If a child performs well in items 4, 11, and 13, it means that he has good spatial talents. He has a rich imagination and has a strong interest in painting and mechanical assembly. You should take him to travel more often and let him play map drawing games from an early age. If a child performs well in items 5, 9, and 14, it means that he has good physical and kinesthetic abilities. Often athletes and dancers have a talent for this. If a child performs well in items 10, 16, and 20, it means that he has good self-understanding. Usually the playwright or director will have this talent. If a child performs well in items 2, 10, and 19, it means that he has a good ability to understand others. Such children often make involuntary judgments and introspections about themselves and others, and have the potential to interact, communicate, and organize with others. No matter what, after seeing these, I feel that I have at least a preliminary understanding of children! It provided a very useful \”broad road\” for me to sign up for interest classes! We can give priority to the child\’s interest classes based on his or her talents, and discover what the child is good at and likes to do. He will also gain more confidence and happiness from it. I believe that there must be many mothers like this around you. After school, they are either playing the piano or in the fencing hall with their children; they are not singing or in the ice hockey hall. On weekends, the whole day is planned. You think the child must be pitiful, right? ! I also asked the child with this mood, and he actually replied, \”It\’s fun, fun, fun, ah!\” More than one child said this. They are not allowed to play with iPads or watch TV at home anyway. It is better to play ice hockey or fencing with friends. As for playing the piano and dancing, it was just too boring at the beginning. Once you get to playing the music and dancing a short section, it is quite interesting, especially when there are people listening and applauding, which feels good. Holy shit! Today\’s children have already begun to achieve such a high level of happiness! Are you still saying that I am a worried mother who moans for no reason? ! Seeing that playing piano, singing, dancing, playing football, and fencing are no longer interest classes but daily life for children, I have to have a great sense of \”conformity.\” I still say the same thing, I don’t expect to cultivate a great person, nor do I live for geniuses. I just want my children to be able to choose their favorite interests based on their talents, learn happily, and not distance themselves from their peers. By keeping the same topics, the same pace, and the same rhythm, they will be better integrated into social life and will be more comfortable. Happy. I have decided to embark on the \”ordinary path\” of taking my children to interest classes!
