The protagonists of Teacher’s Day greetings should be all ordinary teachers

I have been a teacher for many years and have spent countless Teachers’ Days. The process of celebrating Teachers\’ Day every time is similar, which is nothing more than welcoming the leaders\’ condolences and listening to the leaders\’ speeches. Of course, teachers do not need to stand at the school gate to greet the leaders’ condolences. What teachers need to do is usually cleaning. Just like when a poor family has distinguished guests, there is no way to improve the hardware facilities. Cleaning up the home is an inevitable action. Schools are no exception. Although leaders may not necessarily come, stay for a long time when they come, and may not move around for a long time, but in case of a whim, leaders need to go deep into the grassroots to observe the work of frontline teachers. Therefore, before the leader comes, the desk must be wiped with a rag again and again, and there must be no dead space behind the window sill or door. Even the piece of glass high on the floor that has not been wiped for many years will be wiped clean with light. So, before the leader arrived, the teachers were covered in stinky sweat. A wonderful Teacher\’s Day turned into Labor Day. When the leaders arrive, a special car usually drives directly to the school\’s office building, and cameras and reporters take pictures in front of them. A group of officials, big and small, gather around and walk into a specially prepared conference room under the guidance of the school leaders. In the conference room, there were thousands of selected teacher representatives. They applauded, listened to the leader enthusiastically read the manuscript written by the secretary, and then applauded again. At this time, the leadership meeting said that it would not waste everyone\’s precious time, stood up and shook hands with every teacher representative present. After shaking hands, they continued to get back to the special car, surrounded by officials of all sizes, and drove to the next school. Watching the special car drive out of the school, everyone from the school leaders to ordinary teachers breathed a sigh of relief – Teachers\’ Day was finally over. Objectively speaking, on Teachers\’ Day, government leaders visited the school in person to express condolences to the teachers on the front line of teaching and extend holiday greetings to the teachers. This is a manifestation of respecting teachers and valuing education, and it is a good thing. Although the care is only once a year, and the care is just a handshake and a few words, it is better for the leader of the party in charge to think of the teacher one day a year than \”the spring breeze does not pass through Yumen Pass\”. However, from the perspective of ordinary teachers, celebrating Teachers\’ Day this way, apart from the stress of the leaders and the fatigue of cleaning, it seems that they do not feel much holiday joy. As Principal Li Zhenxi said, what is a \”festival\”? The festival means happiness, joy, singing and dancing… Teachers have worked hard for a year, and this day is their own festival. It should be a day of joy, smiles, and pride. Even if Teachers’ Day cannot be celebrated as Li Zhenxi said, teachers should still be mentally happy and physically relaxed, at least in one way. But I am afraid that I am not happy mentally and physically relaxed this way. Most teachers, purely made the background of the festival. In fact, the protagonists of Teachers\’ Day should be all ordinary teachers. This festival is meaningful only if every teacher feels the joy of the festival. I remember last year’s Teacher’s Day, which fell on the weekend, I saw from my circle of friends that most attractions in neighboring cities were free of charge with a teacher’s qualification certificate. So, our family drove there and spent a whole day there. The autumn air was crisp, the sky was clear, and we felt relaxed and happy. It was the happiest Teacher\’s Day in my memory. Although free onlyIt\’s only the price of a ticket, and you still have to pay for other consumption inside. The money saved is not much, but it makes people feel very comfortable, especially on the weekend when I don\’t have to work, and I feel like I have the final say in my holiday. On previous Teachers\’ Days, whether listening to leaders\’ speeches or watching outstanding teachers being commended, I always felt like an outsider. If you spend Teacher\’s Day just sitting in the audience and listening to the leaders\’ speeches, and just cleaning and greeting the leaders\’ condolences, then this Teacher\’s Day is really better than no Teacher\’s Day at all. Over the years, teachers have always suggested canceling Teachers’ Day. Because Teachers\’ Day is now in name only, it no longer represents the improvement of teachers\’ status, but also reflects the decrease of teachers\’ status. Of course this is an angry comment. But how we celebrate Teacher’s Day should indeed change. For example, the leader\’s condolences are changed to a televised speech, allowing teachers to freely choose whether to watch it; for example, each teacher is given a small commemorative gift; for example, it is stipulated that teachers can not work after class that day, and are allowed to go shopping or take a rest… In short, every teacher can feel the festive atmosphere and want to straighten their backs and tell others: Today we celebrate the holiday! That kind of Teacher\’s Day is what teachers want.
