3 “yes”s and 3 “can’ts” during childbirth

The first stage of labor is the cervical dilation stage. The entire delivery process can be divided into three stages according to the degree of opening of the cervix. For each stage, expectant mothers have certain things they can and cannot do. Pain, smooth delivery is very important.

The first stage: labor pain begins about 4 centimeters from the cervix. During this process, the opening of the cervix is not easy to detect, but you will feel uneasy and painful.

can do

Vary positions and try to find the one that feels most comfortable to you. As the fetal head descends, the area of labor pain will change, so try to find a comfortable position so that you can relax better. It is best to open your mouth wide and exhale during labor pains. The basic way to relieve labor pain is to use expiratory breathing techniques. If you force yourself to endure the pain, your body will become stiff and the labor pain will worsen. Deep breathing can relieve pain. Pressing, stroking, and warming the painful area with your hands can help you relax a little from the pain. Putting a hot water bottle on your waist to warm yourself up can also soothe your body and relieve pain.

If it is during the day, try to sit up straight, because the uterus contracts forward and downward during labor, so leaning your body slightly forward can not only reduce the pain, but also relax the muscles. It is best to lie on your side at night and sit up as much as possible during the day.

can\’t do it

Don\’t shout too loudly, it\’s okay to keep your voice down. There is nothing wrong with making noises, but if you keep shouting loudly, it will disrupt your breathing rhythm and reduce labor pains. It\’s okay to lower your voice. Don’t pay too much attention to how long the labor pain will last at the beginning, so don’t pay too much attention at the beginning and don’t record things in detail. This will make you feel nervous and tired. These will affect the sympathetic nerves first, making the labor pain more and more severe. Don\’t Close Your Eyes If closing your eyes helps you hear your inner voice and focus more on labor, close your eyes. But if closing your eyes makes you feel dizzy, it\’s better to keep them open. Don\’t exert too much force when labor pains come. If you exert too much force on your shoulders and other parts, your energy will be exhausted quickly. Especially if you tighten your hips too hard, you may push the falling fetus backward. So when the labor pain passes, don\’t exert too much force. Take a deep breath and relax your tense body.
