90% of parents don’t know about the self-correction method for children’s scoliosis

A few days ago, a parent of a classmate chatted with me and said that he found that one of his children\’s shoulders was recently high and the other was low. He wanted my help to ask if there is a method that is easy to operate and has a better correction effect. As a result, I found out that there are quite a few children around me who have problems such as high and low shoulders, scapula tilt, scoliosis, etc., so I wrote an article directly. Self-correction method for scoliosis in a 12-year-old girl! 2 out of every 10 children fall into this trap. I know you don’t like to read practical information, but what I write is very, very important! At first glance, a child\’s posture and posture may not seem that important, but poor posture has a great impact on physical and mental health. Previously, an 8-year-old child went to the hospital for scoliosis. After examination, it was found that the child\’s scoliosis had reached more than 100 degrees, and he was basically sideways. In order to prevent further deterioration, he underwent orthodontic treatment for more than two years. Later, orthopedic surgery was eventually performed. When the symptoms were mild at first, the parents always thought it was a hunchback and didn\’t pay much attention to it. Later, when the symptoms became serious, they discovered that it was a disease. Fortunately, the operation was relatively successful and the loss was stopped in time. One in every six children has scoliosis. In fact, scoliosis is a common skeletal problem. Past data shows that the incidence of scoliosis is about 2%. In 2018, Tianjin’s scoliosis screening for adolescents found that its incidence rate had reached 16.8%, which means that 1 in every 6 children has scoliosis! And girls are obviously taller than boys, with a ratio of about 6:1, so those with girls at home should pay special attention. Scoliosis means that the spine deviates from the midline and has an abnormal curvature to the side (left or right), forming a C-shaped or S-shaped spinal deformity with a curvature, as shown in the picture: The Cobb angle in the picture below is the standard for measuring scoliosis. Scoliosis can be diagnosed when the cobb angle is greater than 10 degrees: Generally speaking, in a standing position, whether viewed from the front or back, the normal spine arrangement is symmetrical on the left and right sides of the body, and in a straight line from top to bottom. If you see that your body, especially your back and spine, is curved or tilted when standing correctly, the gap between the left and right arms and the trunk is asymmetrical, the height of the left and right shoulders is different, or the shoulder blades are tilted, you may have scoliosis. As mentioned in the case at the beginning, if the temperature is less than 10 degrees or even 20 degrees in the early stage, it is easy to ignore it if parents do not pay attention to it. By the time a problem becomes apparent, it\’s often too late. And many children are only discovered when they are 8, 9 years old, or even teenagers, but scoliosis may actually have occurred at a very young age. There are two main reasons for this: One is the wrong way of raising children. For example, long-term vertical holding within three months, incorrect vertical holding posture, premature sitting practice, W-shaped sitting posture, etc. Another is wrong sitting and standing postures. For example, bowing your head and slouching, raising your head and chest excessively, crossing your legs for a long time, etc. We will write about them in detail below. Therefore, parents must pay more attention and attention in daily life to help their children avoid these wrong postures as much as possible. And perform regular self-examinations, and seek medical advice promptly if problems are found. The dangers of scoliosis cannot be ignored. The dangers of scoliosis are great and must not be ignored. 1. The body is prone to discomfort. Scoliosis is prone to low back pain, limb pain, and evenWeakness in the limbs will directly affect the child\’s ability to move and work. In severe cases, spinal cord compression may even lead to paralysis of the lower limbs. Scoliosis mostly occurs in the thoracolumbar segment. In severe cases, it can lead to thoracic rotation deformity and volume decrease, affecting cardiopulmonary development and causing palpitation and shortness of breath. 2. Affects development and fertility. This mainly affects girls. Scoliosis can cause uneven breast development on both sides and protruding ribs on one side. It will also be accompanied by high and low shoulders and pelvic malalignment, and the tilt and deformation of the female pelvis may lead to abnormal development of the fetus in the future. 3. Many people may find it confusing that it affects concentration. The body is centered on the spine and has many muscles connected to both sides. Only when the spine can maintain the center of gravity of the body can the muscles be fully relaxed and our entire body will feel comfortable. If the spine is curved and unbalanced, the body\’s center of gravity will shift. In order to regain the center of gravity, the muscles will continue to \”force\” in order to maintain the balance of the overall body. When muscles are like this for a long time, they will become stiff due to excessive fatigue, which will affect blood circulation and reduce the blood supply to the brain. When the body\’s \”energy transmission channel\” is blocked, the brain\’s work efficiency will naturally decrease, and may even cause dizziness and headaches, making it difficult for children to concentrate. Therefore, for the problem of scoliosis, parents must observe more, pay more attention, conduct self-examination frequently, and seek medical treatment in time once the problem is discovered. Three-step easy self-examination. Here we provide you with three simple and easy-to-operate steps to easily self-examine your children at home. Observe the posture. Ask the child to take off his shirt, stand relaxed and naturally, and then observe whether the child has the following posture characteristics: ① The two shoulders are not the same height. The most easily observed and easily ignored symptom of scoliosis is that one shoulder is higher than the other. If it is low, many people will mistakenly think that it is because the school bag is heavy, or the backpack or writing posture is incorrect, but in fact there is still the possibility of scoliosis. ②The shoulder blades on both sides are unequal in height or one side is raised; ③The chest or breasts are asymmetrical on both sides; ④The hips are uneven in height, the waist is asymmetrical, and the concave surface of the curve looks higher than the convex surface; ⑤When the hands droop naturally, the chest to the hands The distance between them is inconsistent; ▲The vertical line measurement of the front and back pictures of patients with scoliosis is also done by asking the child to take off the clothes and then stand naturally. A parent uses a plumb line (you can also tie a heavy object under the ordinary line to keep the line vertical) and put it At the back of the neck spine, another parent observes from behind whether the plumb line matches the spine and how much the deviation is. For the bending test, ask the child to take off his shirt, put his heels and knees together, straighten his legs, and let his arms droop naturally. Then bend down at 90 degrees, with both arms naturally perpendicular to the ground, and then carefully observe the child\’s back on both sides. If you see that the back on both sides is flat, then there is basically no problem. If you find that the two sides are uneven, or there is an obvious bulge on one side, then the possibility of scoliosis is very high. No matter there are obvious abnormalities in any of the above conditions, there is a possibility of scoliosis. It is recommended to go to the hospital for further examination to avoid missing the best opportunity for treatment. It’s not difficult to have a good posture by doing this. Posture is not something you pay attention to only when you are an adult or someone who loves beauty. You should pay attention to it since you are a child. Many children form wrong habitual postures when they are three or four years old! A group of Chinese scholars (Lei Yang, Xinhai Lu, Bin Yan, Yeen Huang, 2020) published epidemiological survey data on the incidence of incorrect postures among children and adolescents in my country: a total of 595,057 students in grades 1-12 in Shenzhen were screened. The overall incidence rate of bad posture was 65.3%, with girls (76.0%) > boys (56.6%) in terms of gender, and age above 10 years old > under 10 years old. Therefore, if we start catching babies when we are under 10 years old, then we can basically avoid it when we are over 10 years old. Correct standing posture Let’s first look at what is correct standing posture: when viewed from the front/back, the vertical line passing through the center of gravity of the human body divides the body into two parts, and the left and right sides are symmetrical; when viewed from the side, the ears, shoulders, and hips are basically in a straight line , the knee joint and ankle joint are located slightly behind the straight line; the head and body do not rotate, the spine has no obvious lordosis, kyphosis, or lateral bending, and the shoulders and pelvis remain level. Many children with poor posture have these problems: placing their body weight on one leg, hunching their back, having a swollen belly, protruding their neck, holding their chest, etc. This is because this can \”relax\” as many muscles that are not used to support the body. Although \”comfortable\”, it is not good for the body. You can usually \”stand against the wall\” to let your children feel and practice the correct standing posture. When the body remembers this state, daily postures become natural because of habits. The main points to pay attention to are: ① Whether the back of the head is against the wall. If the child stands and the back of the head is not against the wall, it means that he has the habit of protruding his neck or hunchback. ② The same is true whether the shoulders are against the wall. If not, it means that the child is easy to hold the chest in daily life. You can remind the child to open the shoulders, or open the entire arms, to experience the state of the shoulders when standing correctly. ③Have you straightened your back to feel the distance between your child’s waist and the wall, and how many fists can you put down? Normally, a palm or at most half a fist (child\’s) should be placed between the waist and the wall. If it is larger than this, it means that the child may be \”upright\” too much, which is overcorrection and formal uprightness. We often use \”head high and chest high\” to guide children\’s standing posture. We think the correct standing posture is like this: In fact, the correct standing posture is like this: Excessive slumping of the waist and protruding buttocks will only overstress the lumbar spine, which is easy to It causes the pelvis to tilt forward, which is a common \”belly belly\” in children. It doesn’t take more than 5 minutes a day. “Standing against the wall” for 5 minutes can help children practice their posture well. However, 5 minutes is not difficult to say, but it is not easy to say easy, especially for young children. Parents can choose to talk about picture books and play games (eye- and brain-moving) during the standing period to help their children persist better. The correct sitting posture also looks at the correct sitting posture: adjust the desk and chair to the appropriate height; keep the head level and the back to maintain the normal physiological curvature of the spine; relax the shoulders, keep the height of the shoulders, and keep the forearms horizontal; \”hip-knee-ankle\” flexion \”90-90-90°\”, with your feet flat on the ground. Many people compareWe pay attention to the state of children when doing homework, but ignore the posture of children watching TV, tablets and other electronic auxiliary products. You can also refer to the office sitting posture in the picture above. Especially for tablets and mobile phones, if you want to use them, be sure to raise them to a suitable position. So how to judge or let the child judge whether he is sitting upright or not? A little way to tell you: put your two hands under your buttocks and feel the position of your sit bones (the two bones that press your hands). The correct sitting posture is to let the weight of the upper body rest on the sit bones, and you will feel that this bone is poking directly on your hands. Try hunching over in a C shape and you will find that your sit bones move forward. Then I tried straightening my waist and sticking out my buttocks to make a C shape, and I found that my sit bones moved back again, and the center fell on the flesh instead of the ischium. You can also use the daily 5-minute training method, starting from a small time period. Once the child adapts to the correct sitting posture, he can correct and maintain it at any time. In addition, there are two other small points that must be mentioned. One is that you need to pay attention to it when sleeping. Since the child\’s bones are relatively soft and have strong plasticity during the development period, you must not give your child a bed that is too soft. The other is to strengthen sports. Sports are very helpful to bone development. Among them, swimming, basketball, football and badminton and other sports are very beneficial to children\’s posture correction. Okay, that’s it for today’s fun stuff! I hope you all found this article not so boring~
