Be alert! Environmental pollution can destroy human fertility

The biggest influencing factor of infertility is changes in the quality of the environment in which people are in close contact with and depend on for survival. Humans’ clothing, food, shelter and transportation are in contact with various chemicals all the time. These chemicals that affect humans and other organisms (mainly animals) are called \”Environmental hormones\”. It enters the body and mainly plays an estrogen-like (estrogen-like) role, directly affecting the reproductive capabilities of men and women. At present, more than 100 chemical substances have been identified that are in close contact with humans, such as plastics and plastic foams (white pollutants), detergents, asphalt, some additives, and decorative products based on chemical raw materials. They mainly pollute water and enter the food chain through water, causing direct damage to humans and thus affecting human fertility.

Male infertility is mainly manifested by azoospermia and oligozoospermia, and the number of patients with azoospermia is significantly increased. Decrease in semen quality is common in every man. At present, less than 5% of semen quality evaluation indicators can reach excellent, and those who can reach the lower limit of normal standards are considered very good.

Research has found that in the past 20 years, the number of sperm in the semen of normal adult men in my country has dropped by 20%, and the sperm motility rate, normal morphological sperm percentage and semen volume have all dropped by about 10%. This shows that since the 1980s, the quality of male sperm in our country has been significantly \”degraded\” and has reached a level beyond what people can accept. In 1999, in an area 100 kilometers east and west of Beijing, researchers randomly selected soldiers aged 18 to 25 from garrison units in rural areas (these soldiers were all recruited from rural areas, and the age of enlistment was 16 to 17 years old, which can exclude people with background Have a history of unclean sexual intercourse after the period) for investigation. After collecting their semen, the semen quality was evaluated and compared with similar data on men in Beijing in the early 1980s. The number of sperm in the survey subjects dropped by more than 50%, the total number of sperm in each ejaculation dropped by more than 65%, the sperm motility rate dropped by more than 25%, the motility of sperm with excellent and good forward motion dropped by more than 30%, and the percentage of sperm with normal morphology dropped by more than 50%. Decreased by more than 20%, semen volume decreased by more than 20%. Although this set of survey data is not enough to replace the overall situation across the country, the results are \”shocking.\”

In terms of female infertility, the main manifestations are a significant increase in patients with irregular menstruation and ovulation disorders.Patients in their twenties and thirties have developed symptoms such as amenorrhea, scanty menstruation, and even premature ovarian failure. There has been a significant increase in ectopic pregnancy, spontaneous abortion, stillbirth, embryonic fat dysplasia and fetal termination. All these manifestations are directly related to the deterioration of environmental quality. It is environmental pollution that brings difficulties and problems to biological reproduction.
