In ten months of pregnancy, one child will be born. After a long pregnancy, when they finally enter the delivery room and wait for delivery, most mothers hope that their children will be born as soon as possible and this painful process will end as soon as possible; their sons see the long-awaited baby.
It has almost become a consensus that giving birth quickly means that the mother is strong and good to the child. However, from a medical perspective, having a baby too fast is not a good thing.
The birth process is divided into 3 stages, also known as the 3 stages of labor.
The first stage of labor begins with regular contractions of the uterus to the cervix. First-time mothers have a longer labor process, which takes about 12-16 hours, while multiparous women have a shorter labor process, which only takes 6-8 hours. The reason for this difference is that multiparous women have a more relaxed cervix.
The second stage of labor is from the time the uterus is fully dilated to the birth of the baby. It takes about 12 hours for first-time mothers, and generally no more than 1 hour for multiparous women.
The third stage of labor is from the birth of the child to the delivery of the placenta, and it only takes 5 to 15 minutes for most women.
Doctors call labor that lasts less than 3 hours an acute labor. Precipitous labor is caused by uterine contractions that are too strong and too fast. In the past, this kind of emergency labor was more common in multiparous women. Nowadays, for various reasons, the number of abortions and inductions of labor before delivery has increased. Therefore, precipitous labor is also common among first-time mothers.
If the uterine contractions are too strong and the fetus passes through the birth canal too quickly, it can easily cause the mother\’s perineum, vagina or cervix to tear. If the child is born standing up under special circumstances, this can sometimes cause the uterus to roll out of the body. Rapid labor will also reduce the contractility of uterine fibers, causing the placenta to remain in the uterus and unable to be delivered, increasing the possibility of postpartum hemorrhage.
In addition, the impatience and rapid arrival of little angels often leaves inexperienced grassroots hospital doctors or rural midwives in a hurry, leaving them with no time to disinfect and deliver babies, increasing the chance of puerperal infection.
Rapid delivery is more harmful to the baby. Continuous and strong contraction of the uterus will greatly hinder the blood circulation of the placenta, and may even temporarily block the iliac artery and abdominal aorta that supply uterine blood, reducing the blood supply to the placenta. Lack of oxygen to the uterus can easily cause pain and even death from suffocation. Premature birth of the fetus can also cause the child to be unable to adapt to sudden changes in external pressure in time, leading to intracranial blood vessel rupture and intracranial hemorrhage. Sometimes due to not coming to Hefei to deliver the baby, the newborn may fall to the ground, causing fractures and trauma.
Therefore, in order for the little angel to arrive safely and smoothly, pregnant women must not be anxious or nervous, just relax and follow the doctor\’s instructions. Knowing that this is mother\’s final test requires courage and patience to overcome it. In order to avoid the occurrence of emergency labor, pregnant women who are about to become mothers should not travel far 12 weeks before delivery to prevent accidents. If possible, it is best to go to the hospital to wait for delivery, so that even if an accident occurs, the doctor will handle it properly.
