Expectant mothers, do you feel any pressure?

1. Psychology believes that during pregnancy, women will trace their emotional connection with their mother through their experience of coexisting with the fetus, which subconsciously arouses the conflict of love and hate between women and their mother. If she has had a bad relationship with her mother since childhood, was rejected or abused by her mother, she will not be able to form a correct maternal identity, and may even be dissatisfied with the fetus in the womb or doubt whether it is the mother. She is qualified to take on the important responsibilities of motherhood. Therefore, there is fear and rejection of pregnancy.

2. Unhappy marriage or unexpected pregnancy. In this case, the pregnant woman\’s resentment and dissatisfaction with her spouse or the person she is pregnant with will be transferred to the fetus in her belly, resulting in psychological loss during pregnancy.

3. Worry about changes in body shape. Generally speaking, in marriages based on beauty, women attach great importance to their body shape and appearance. Pregnancy will change your self-image, so pregnancy often causes a psychological shock to some women who pay attention to their appearance. They worry that their clumsy body shape will make their husbands change their minds. The more jealous a woman is in love, the more serious her psychological changes will be.

4. Other psychological pressure. If you are forced by external pressure or your own expectations for the gender of your future baby, it will increase the psychological burden and worry about the possible unfortunate outcome all day long. They may also worry about whether the fetus is normal, financial burdens, career difficulties, deprivation of social life, tension in the couple\’s sexual life, etc., which will cause physical and mental stress.

Pregnant women facing one or more of the above psychological crises will be emotionally reflected. Emotional changes can affect endocrine disorders in pregnant women, leading to a series of physical and mental changes. When pregnant women lose their psychological balance, they often feel general discomfort, fatigue, anxiety, tension, dependence, and attention seeking. In severe cases, tachycardia, loss of appetite, jealousy, depression, pessimism, delusions, and some even the illusion of fetal death in the womb may occur.

So is this really the case for pregnant women? Director Tian of Shanghai Marriott Hospital explained that this is not the case, because every woman will have some emotional changes during pregnancy, but individual differences are very large, which is closely related to the woman\’s psychological maturity. Pregnancy can be more pleasant and natural if the character\’s identity has the right attitude. Generally speaking, when women are pregnant with their first child, their emotional imbalance will be more obvious. In subsequent pregnancies, as experience and confidence in the role of motherhood increases, this imbalance will be greatly reduced.
