What is excessive compliance with KPIs? That is, when elders tell juniors or superiors tell subordinates a KPI, juniors and subordinates will think that this KPI is the only gold standard, without knowing or exploring the principles behind it. For example, in a workplace, if the leader tells employees that they need to work overtime, and whoever works overtime longer will be the best, the employees will waste their time indefinitely. Even if they play games and binge-watch TV shows, they will not get off work. If the leader says that whoever brings more customers will be the best, employees will think of all kinds of weird sales methods, even if they make harassing phone calls, damage the brand, and even if they lose money and give customers various coupons, they will continue to sell. Employees will not think from the perspective of leaders. They must work efficiently, they must not wear down the brand, and they must not suffer excessive losses. Even if they think about it, the leadership KPI has been set, and they can only follow it. This is called excessive compliance with KPIs. Therefore, he tried his best to tell you that he is working hard to achieve your KPI. Children are not like adults. He does not quite understand that you say that no pressure is comfort, and he thinks this is his KPI.\” Another mother asked My child is in middle school. The school cannot rank the children because of its policy. So the parents put a lot of effort into asking about the average score, how many scores it had with other children, and then estimate their child\’s ranking. At this time, the child said that his outstanding classmates had higher IQs and smarter than him, and he could not surpass them in any case. She asked me what should I do? I said the exam is not a competition. The essence of the exam is one person, one paper, and one pen. The mistakes you make yourself have nothing to do with your classmates. The essence of exams is actually just the continuous testing of your own knowledge, continuous perfection, and continuous correction of errors. If you, as a parent, put KPI in this essence and tell your children, no matter what others do, we analyze, practice, and correct our own mistakes one by one. If you don’t make the same mistake next time, no one else can force you to make a mistake. . When you go to the exam room and you think, \”I\’m facing an army of thousands of people, many of them are very smart,\” then you will never find inner peace. You can also think: \”This exam is just me and this paper. No matter how smart other people are, they can\’t force me to make mistakes. As long as I don\’t make mistakes, I can win.\” What do you think I was like when I took the college entrance examination? It\’s the latter. It was this calm state of mind that allowed me to get into Tsinghua University.. When parents go to schools and constantly ask about rankings, they are actually telling their children that rankings are your KPIs. When children answer you, I am not as smart as them, it is actually the answer, I cannot achieve this KPI. But in fact, ranking is not the essence of the exam, just like overtime is not the essence of work. The exam is not boxing or Go. It is just a solo project and a process of defeating yourself. When our parents set KPIs that deviate from the essence, the children\’s mentality will also deviate from the essence.
