How can you make a first-grade child fall in love with reading? Super simple, only 5 steps are needed

Simple, only 5 steps are needed to make your child fall in love with reading! I used the 5-step method to teach my Youyou to read when she was in first grade. By the time she was in second grade, she was able to read on her own! 1. Reading environment Whether we rent or buy a house, there is a place in our home [reading corner] where we can sit on the ground and read without disturbing each other! Because of this place, the child will come here when he wants to rest, and he will easily take out a book he likes. It seems that now the second child comes home from kindergarten and finds a book to read when he has something to do (especially when I am busy) When he wakes up and doesn’t have time to play with her, he basically reads books by himself to kill time) 2. Telling stories Both my children like to listen to stories, so I will tell them. I start telling stories every day when I chat with them. The children would ask me: \”Mom, how did you know?\” I: \”I saw it from the book.\” Then the little ones understood the sentence \”There is a golden house in the book\”, Youyou He will also tell us the new stories he saw! Telling each other stories is a very good way to output reading. 3. Encourage reading. When children take the initiative to read, I will send out encouraging rainbow farts: \”Ah, you are so young and you are taking the initiative to read books?\”, \”Ah, you know, very powerful people have the habit of reading. \”, \”You look so beautiful when reading\”… All compliments are inseparable from the word \”reading\”, and children will feel that reading is a pleasant thing. 4. Never take the initiative to ask children, \”What\’s in the book?\” If you observe carefully, you will find that many children like reading books at first, but then gradually stop liking them. Most of the time, parents do something that is particularly annoying to their children – \”What is it about in the book?\” When the children can\’t answer the question, they immediately say, \”It\’s useless to read it. It\’s better not to read it.\” Well, so what’s the key to why children don’t like reading? In [Watching it is in vain, it is better not to watch it], if the child feels stressed, then he will not watch it, and watching it is in vain anyway. Parents can reflect on themselves. Have they ever said similar things? You know, if you want your children to fall in love with reading, don\’t randomly assign books to your children or ask them what they have gained. My family Youyou reads books. I only do one thing [not to disturb the children]. After reading a book, as long as we learn one sentence, then it is worthwhile for us to read this book. I also often read books. I have read a lot of books and remember very little of the content. But sometimes after encountering similar scenes in life, some suggestions in the books will pop up and help me make the most correct decision. 5. Check in to get a sense of achievement. When first graders first started to develop the habit of reading, we would check in every day. After checking in for 30 days, we would reward the child with a small toy. After all, children are still young and they need to have expectations for everything they do. Of course, the same is true for us adults. If it were not for the salary at the end of the month, who would be willing to get up early and go to work every day? Therefore, when children have expectations, they are more willing to participate. Once the habit is formed, even if you don\’t give him a reward, he will take the initiative to read. This is the conversion of external drive to internal drive. Parents can develop some incentive plans for their children based on their children\’s personalities.
