How to resolve infertility caused by male seminal tract obstruction?

Sperm are produced by the seminiferous tubules of the testicles, and then the mature sperm are sent out of the body through the epididymis, vas deferens, ejaculatory ducts and urethra. As long as any one of them is blocked, sperm movement and discharge will be hindered, which can lead to infertility. Seminal tract obstruction can be caused by two major categories of factors, congenital and acquired.

Cause:

â‘ Congenital obstruction. Congenital hypoplasia of the epididymis; congenital hypoplasia or absence of the vas deferens; congenital atresia of the vas deferens; congenital ejaculatory duct obstruction, etc. can cause congenital seminal tract obstruction.

â‘¡ Acquired factors cause seminal tract obstruction. Includes infection, injury and surgical ligation.

Patients with infertility caused by seminal tract obstruction often have normal sexual desire and function, normal development of secondary sexual characteristics, and normal blood hormone levels; only semen tests reveal oligospermia or no sperm. In addition, depending on the cause, patients may have urinary tract infection symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and dysuria; or have a history of unclean sexual intercourse or gonorrhea infection; or have a history of genital tuberculosis; or have a history of urethral trauma and difficulty urinating.

Reproductive system examination may reveal epididymal enlargement and nodules; or the vas deferens is thickened or beaded; or the vas deferens is unclear or cannot be touched.
