Kindergarten children, 6 things to learn in mathematics

When children go to kindergarten, some kindergartens do not teach cultural content, causing parents to feel anxious, fearing that their children will not be able to keep up in elementary school. I want to teach myself but don’t know what to teach. For preschool children, mathematics learning can focus on the following six core contents, and the methods can also be flexible and diverse. 1. Cognitive content of numbers: Recognize the numbers 1 to 100 and understand the order of numbers. Learning method: ① Use cards with numbers written on them to play a matching game. ②Play counting games anytime and anywhere. You can count everything, such as the number of fingers, the number of people in your home, the number of dishes on the table, etc. ③Read the hundreds-number board in order once a day until the child can count from 1 to 100 without the hundreds-number board. 2. Simple addition and subtraction content: learn basic addition and subtraction (addition and subtraction within 20, such as 1+1 ,2-1). Learning methods: ① Use real objects, such as fingers, beans, Lego and other small objects to perform simple addition and subtraction exercises to help children build mental images. Children\’s understanding of numbers is a step-by-step process. In mathematics learning, it takes a while for children to transition from applying specific experiences to applying mental arithmetic methods and symbolic representations for calculations. Before realizing abstract calculations, children need to use concrete objects to assist them in thinking and understanding. ②Parents and children read picture book stories together. Find some children\’s picture books about addition and subtraction and learn through story situations. ③Play shopping games. 3. Shape and space content: Recognize basic geometric shapes (such as circles, squares, triangles). Learning methods: ① Recognize and read the shapes of objects around you. ②Shape classification game. Collect objects around you and sort them by shape. ③Create works of art. Create a collage using different shaped pieces of paper to increase your understanding of shapes. 4. Conceptual content of quantity: Understand the basic concepts of length, weight and capacity. Learning methods: ①Measurement activities: Use rulers, homemade markers, scales and other tools for simple measurements. ②Communication and comparison: Discuss the length, height, and weight of different items. 5. Time concept content: recognize clocks and understand the concepts of daily time (such as morning, afternoon, evening). Learning methods: ① Establish the concept of time in children’s life, for example: It is morning now and we have to prepare breakfast. You finish school at 4pm and so on. ② Make a timetable: Make a timetable of daily activities together and mark the time. ③Use the time clock: The toy clock helps children understand the hour and half hour. 6. Number combination and grouping content: Understand the combination of numbers (for example, 7 can be expressed as 2+3, or 2+2+1). Learning methods: ① Group games: use toys to make different combinations and discuss the combination methods. ②Family activities: Let children participate in grouping in family activities, such as distributing fruits. Written at the end: If we want children to learn and master basic mathematical concepts in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. It is necessary to ensure that the learning process is interactive and interesting, and children\’s participation can be stimulated through questions and answers and discussions. Eat small and frequent meals consistently, and arrange some small time for math activities every day to maintain regularity.
