The difference between transverse caesarean section and vertical caesarean section

Transverse injury

The height of the wound is about 34 cm above the pubic symphysis, and the length of the wound is about 1015 cm. The skin, subcutaneous tissue, and fascia are all incised transversely, but when it comes to the rectus abdominis, the incision is made longitudinally at the midline and enters the abdominal cavity.

longitudinal wound

The wound was located on the midline between the navel and pubic symphysis, and the length of the wound was approximately 15 cm.

Transverse and longitudinal cuts are simply a matter of surgical incision selection. The transverse incision was a surgical method pioneered by the Israelis. It is mainly beneficial to remove the urinary catheter early after surgery, and the incision pressure is lower due to gravity, which is beneficial to recovery. Regardless of transverse or vertical incision, it is emphasized that the second pregnancy must be three years later, otherwise uterine rupture will easily occur.

There are three types of uterine wall incisions

1. Longitudinal section of the upper uterus: This is a traditional caesarean section

2. Longitudinal section of the lower uterine segment.

3. Transect the lower uterine segment.

Currently, the third method is the most common and safe, and the first and second methods are only used in emergencies.
