What should I do if my child’s grades are poor? The shortcut is not to make up lessons but to do this

Summer vacation is coming soon, and more and more parents are looking for me again. They kept calling me, hoping that I could help them introduce some excellent teachers to provide tutoring for their children. Some parents also asked me: \”Why has my child spent a lot of money on tutoring, but his grades have not improved?\” In fact, whether in-service teachers\’ tutoring is in compliance with regulations is not discussed for the time being. I really want to tell parents, If you want to improve your children\’s grades, you can\’t focus on making up lessons. An important reason why many children\’s grades are unsatisfactory is that their learning is unplanned, resulting in low learning efficiency. Helping children formulate study plans and supervising their implementation to cultivate their planning skills is actually more important than making up lessons. How important is planning? Yu Minhong mentioned in a speech that he conducted experiments with two groups of students. He said to the first batch of students: You must study hard when you go back and read a little every day. These children started studying when they got back. A month later, he counted and found that some children had read one book and some had read two. He said to another group of students: Each of you must read 50 pages of books every day. One week is 350 pages, which is equivalent to one book. As a result, most students read three to four books a month. It can be seen that with a specific plan, the efficiency of reading is significantly improved, and the latter is almost twice as high as the former. The same is true for the study of cultural courses. With a clear plan, you will get twice the result with half the effort. On the contrary, if there is no goal or the goal is vague, the effect will definitely be affected. Many parents just urge their children all day long: Go read a book! Go do the questions! As for what books to read, what questions to do, how many books to read, and how many questions to do, everyone has no idea. In the end, it will only look busy, but in fact the results are not good. We have all heard that Hengshui Middle School is not only very busy with studies during normal times, but also has a huge workload during holidays, with hundreds of sets of test questions to be done in a short holiday. For students from other schools, this is simply a fantasy. I remember that during the winter vacation when my son was in the third grade of junior high school, he was determined to finish all 38 sets of Tianli. However, by the end of the winter vacation, he had only made a dozen sets in total. As a result, I regretted my unsatisfactory test results after school started. After he arrived at Hengshui Middle School, although the tasks during each holiday were heavier, he was able to complete them successfully. The reason is that students\’ vacation time has been planned at the school level. There is a curriculum just like usual school, and they do what they need to do when they need to do it. In this case, learning efficiency can indeed be improved exponentially. Many people have this feeling that learning at home is not as efficient as at school, and here is the reason. Because in school, it is often the teacher who helps make plans, what will be done in this class and what will be done in the next class, and the students just follow suit. At home, many children do not know how to make plans on their own. Therefore, they often seem to be very serious, but in fact they are not efficient and cannot learn at all. In the examination room, a set of test papers will definitely be completed in 2 hours, but at home, children may not be able to finish it even if they stay in the study for half a day. I want to preview a new course, but I always stay on the first few pages. In fact, many times, the difference between us and top students is here. For top students, school and home are the same, in class and after class. They are all the same, they all have strict plans and execute them accordingly. When I was in high school, I was fortunate enough to be in the same class as the top student in the school, and we had a good relationship with him. There is one thing that has impressed us so far. It was in a physics class. The teacher was lecturing on a topic and needed to use a formula, so he asked: \”Have you talked about this before?\” The whole class was silent, only the top student said: \”I haven\’t talked about it yet. I haven\’t talked about it yet.\” A certain chapter and a certain section. Everyone knows the importance of previewing, and the teacher\’s teaching speed will only take care of the average level, and the pace will definitely be slower for students with better intelligence. He is definitely not the only student with a better IQ in the class, but he is the only student who can really make good use of his intelligence and prepare for lessons in a planned way. My son also told me the story of his deskmate. At first, his deskmate\’s English reading was relatively poor, but after a while, his level improved greatly. The method is very simple, that is, use all ten minutes after class and insist on doing a reading comprehension in each class break. As a result, his English scores improved significantly. When studying, make targeted plans and insist on executing them, and you will definitely get good results. At the beginning of the vacation, I was full of enthusiasm, but after the vacation ended, I regretted it. This is basically the case for children without plans. Efforts without a plan are often just busying around. Even if you spend money to make up for classes, you are still looking for psychological comfort. This may sound cruel, but it is true. Developing a complete vacation plan with your children during the first vacation and strictly implementing it is the key to improving your child\’s performance. Whether at home or at school, we should plan what we want to do and develop the habit of planning time. And once such a habit is developed, it will be of great benefit to your future work and life. This is my advice to students and parents this summer.
