For every woman, childbirth is an important part of life. However, the process of childbirth is full of pain. In the curved and narrow birth canal, the fetus\’s head has to rotate several times and is constantly squeezed out. We can imagine that this is a very painful process for the mother. According to historians, humankind\’s ancestors understood the pain of female childbirth more than 100,000 years ago. According to the unearthed ancient human fossils, archaeologists analyzed that human ancestors at that time already knew how to deliver babies when women gave birth. For more than 100,000 years, women have endured the pain of childbirth and their uneasiness about this pain, which shows the greatness of mothers! However, conditions are much better now. All kinds of medical equipment and obstetrics and gynecology technology are quite advanced. After pregnant women enter the delivery room, there are doctors and midwives to help, so there is no need to worry.
So, when a mother gives birth to a baby, does the fetus suffer the same as the mother? When the mother gives birth, the fetus must squeeze through the curved and narrow birth canal under the influence of the systolic pressure (abdominal pressure) of the mother\’s abdomen. This shouldn\’t be an easy thing to do.
Some scientists use pressure sensors to measure labor pressure in the fetus from labor pains to delivery. The results showed that the average maternal pressure during delivery was less than 70g/cm2. This pressure is equivalent to the pressure on the bed when an adult lies flat on the bed. During delivery, when the uterus contracts and exerts maximum pressure (the pressure exerted on the fetal pillow when the cervix opens), the pressure can reach 140g/cm2.
It can be seen that when a mother gives birth to a baby, although the fetus is not as painful as the mother, it is still a very difficult process.
